Thrifty Goodness

This morning I went to an Estate sale with two of my sisters. My sister Tracy invited us to stop first at her house for breakfast then she drove us to the Haskell-Ellis estate. Gorgeous old house on top of a hill- beautiful views of the property-the Navesink River and the cows and horses that live there. The house was amazing- old moldings, french doors, vintage wallpapers. It was all a bit shabby but you could feel the history. I didn't buy anything- my sisters found a few little treasures- I was happy just walking around. I did mention to my sister Barbara that if she hadn't bought me a Christmas present yet, those Staffordshire dogs could be just the thing. She put in a bid that was quite a bit less that the $590 original price. I'm not holding my breath. After the sale I stopped by my friendly neighborhood thrift store where I did manage to find a few things to spend my money on.

L to R- Me , Tracy, Barbara

From the thrift store- little yellow teacups I'll use for flower arrangements- ten for $4.00, vintage children's books- 50 cents each. I bought a few things for gifts also. Find of the day-a brand new item that my boys had just seen in Target and wanted for Christmas. Can't show you, they read this blog sometimes. But it was $10 at Target and I bought the exact same thing for only $2.00. Of course they both want one so I'm going to Target to buy another one anyway, but the $8.00 I saved basically covered the cost of everything else I bought.

Too cute -vintage salt and pepper shakers- a gift from my friend, Julie.

It always sounds like you're having so much fun, the only person I know who absolutely everyone loves and enjoys! Cool chickens.
